## AI Credits

AI credits are a team's monthly allowance for Resend's AI-powered features. They are separate from the email and contact quotas.

Each of the following spends one credit:

- Generating a full email with AI in the broadcast or template editor
- Editing a selected passage with AI in the editor
- Generating an automation with AI
- The AI-written summary of an automation
- Drafting an email or an automation through the Resend assistant in the dashboard

These AI features are free and never spend a credit: image alt text, subject line suggestions, preview text suggestions, template name suggestions, broadcast name suggestions, the AI content review, and URL and brand analysis. Asking the Resend assistant questions is also free.

| Plan | AI Credits / mo |
| ---------- | --------------- |
| Free | 5 |
| Pro | 100 |
| Scale | 500 |
| Enterprise | Flexible |

Credits reset monthly. Unused credits do not roll over. When a team runs out, only the AI features pause until the next reset or a plan upgrade — email sending is not affected. Current usage is shown on the [Usage](https://resend.com/settings/usage) page in the dashboard.

## FAQ

### Do you offer any discounts for annual subscriptions?

No, we only provide monthly plans.

### Do you offer non-profit or education pricing?

No, all plans are currently priced the same for every customer.

### What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards.

### Is there a free trial available?

No, but we provide a free-forever plan.

### Who can I contact about a custom plan?

Please contact us at resend.com/enterprise.

### What happens if I send more emails than my plan allows?

With pay-as-you-go pricing, you can continue sending beyond your monthly quota and only pay for what you use. Overages are billed in buckets of 1,000 emails at your plan's overage rate. You can enable this in your team settings under "Transactional Overages." If you don't enable pay-as-you-go and exceed your plan limits, you will be notified and given the option to upgrade to a higher plan.

### What is the difference between transactional and marketing emails?

In Resend, transactional emails are emails sent using the /emails API, while marketing emails are sent using the /broadcasts API or through the Broadcasts interface in the dashboard. Transactional emails are typically triggered by user actions and include things like password resets or order confirmations. Marketing emails are typically sent to a list of contacts and include things like newsletters or promotional campaigns. Broadcast emails can only be sent to existing contacts, while transactional emails can be sent to any email address.

### What does "unlimited broadcast sending" mean?

For marketing plans, the focus is on maintaining a relationship with your contacts. Therefore marketing plans are not limited by the number of emails you can send, but only by the number of contacts you have. Broadcasts can only be sent to existing contacts.

### Do broadcast emails count against the transactional email limits?

No. Broadcast emails sent through the /broadcasts API or through the Broadcasts interface in the dashboard do not count against your transactional email limits. Only emails sent through the /emails API count towards your transactional email limits.

### How are inbound emails counted?

Each received email counts towards your transactional emails quota.

### Does upgrading my plan raise the API rate limit?

No. The API rate limit (requests per second) is set per team and is the same on every plan, so upgrading doesn't change it. If you're hitting the limit, the Batch Email API sends up to 100 emails in one request, and each batch request counts as a single request against the limit. If your sending pattern still needs a higher limit, contact support with your expected volume and we'll review it.

### Can I send my newsletter through the /emails API instead of Broadcasts?

Yes. A newsletter can be sent through the /emails API, or through the /broadcasts API or the Broadcasts interface in the dashboard. Either way your recipients must have consented to receive it and must be able to unsubscribe: Broadcasts handle the unsubscribe link for you when your message includes the {{{RESEND_UNSUBSCRIBE_URL}}} placeholder, while emails sent through the /emails API need your own visible unsubscribe link plus the List-Unsubscribe and List-Unsubscribe-Post headers. Every recipient of an /emails API send counts as one email against your transactional quota; broadcasts count against your contacts instead.

### Is open and click tracking included on the Free plan?

Yes. Open and click tracking is a per-domain setting available on every plan, including Free. The "Marketing analytics" feature on the pricing page is the separate analytics dashboard for your broadcasts, not tracking.

### Is there a plan between Free and Pro?

No. The plans are Free, Pro, Scale, and Enterprise. If you occasionally need more than your plan includes, pay-as-you-go lets a paid plan keep sending past its monthly quota at the plan's overage rate. It's an option on paid plans, not a plan of its own.
